PentaVault safety and certification
Pakistan has no mandatory safety standard for imported lithium batteries. We publish the certificates instead of describing them.

The situation
In Pakistan there is no local test for a battery to fail
PSQCA, Pakistan's standards authority, does not operate a lithium battery testing laboratory. The country imports several gigawatt hours of lithium storage a year, and none of it is required to pass a local safety test before it is sold to a household.
That means the phrase tier one cells, which appears on almost every battery listing in this market, is a claim about sourcing rather than a test result. It is unverifiable by the buyer and carries no obligation on the seller.
We take the opposite approach. Every step from cell selection to commissioning is carried out or verified by one company, and the pack is certified to international standards whose certificates we will hand you on request.
The certifications
What each standard actually tests
UN38.3
The transport standard. Covers altitude simulation, thermal cycling, vibration, shock, external short circuit, impact, overcharge and forced discharge. A pack without it should not legally be shipped by air or sea.
IEC 62619
The standard for secondary lithium cells in industrial and stationary applications. Covers internal short circuit, thermal propagation and functional safety of the battery management system.
CE
European conformity marking, covering electromagnetic compatibility and low voltage requirements for the product as placed on the market.
LiFePO4 chemistry
Lithium iron phosphate is more thermally stable than the nickel-based chemistries used in consumer electronics, with a higher thermal runaway threshold. It is the appropriate chemistry for a cabinet inside a home.
How to read a battery quote
The same specification, described two different ways
None of the claims on the left are illegal in Pakistan, and most of them are not even untrue. They are simply unfalsifiable, which is the point. Ask for the version on the right.
| What to check | What a typical listing says | What we put in writing |
|---|---|---|
| Cells | Grade A tier one cells, with no batch, no supplier and no way to check. | LiFePO4 cells graded and logged by batch, with the assembly done and recorded by us. |
| Capacity | A single kWh figure, with no statement of whether it is nominal or usable. | Nominal energy and depth of discharge published separately, so you can work out the usable figure yourself. |
| Cycle life | A bare number, commonly 6,000 or 8,000, with no residual capacity threshold attached. | Cycle life stated against 70 percent residual capacity, which is the only way the number means anything. |
| Certification | Certified mentioned in the copy, with no certificate offered. | CE, UN38.3 and IEC 62619, with the certificates available on request before you buy. |
| Compatibility | Works with all hybrid inverters. | Eight named brands, tested in real installations, with the working settings documented. |
| Warranty | Five years, honoured by an importer who may or may not be trading in year four. | Five years replacement plus three years service, honoured by the company that installed it. |
Buyer guidance
What to ask any battery supplier, including us
If a supplier cannot answer these in writing, that is itself the answer. Take this list to whoever else you are considering.
- Which certifications does the pack hold, and can I see the certificates?
- What is the cycle life, and at what residual capacity is it measured?
- What is the depth of discharge, and is the quoted capacity usable or nominal?
- What is the operating temperature range, and what happens above 45 degrees?
- Who honours the warranty, and where are they located?
- What is the fire protection strategy at cell and cabinet level?
- Which inverters is it tested against, by name rather than by category?
- Who commissions the system, and what documentation do I keep?
Safety questions people actually ask
Is it safe to mount a lithium battery inside the house?
What actually happens if a cell fails?
How do I verify the certificates are genuine?
Does the warranty survive if I move house?
Why does LiFePO4 matter rather than just lithium?
Do I need to tell my insurer about the battery?
What clearance does a cabinet need around it?
What happens at the end of the battery life?
Ask us for the certificates before you ask us for a price
We will send the CE, UN38.3 and IEC 62619 documentation for the cabinet you are considering, with the issuing body and certificate number so you can verify them independently.
